Angler of the Year standings that keep themselves
Every weigh-in updates the season race. No spreadsheet, no recalculating.
Most clubs track angler of the year in a spreadsheet that one person owns. Points get entered by hand after each event, the file gets emailed around, and by August nobody is quite sure which version is current. ReelRank calculates the standings from the scores you already entered at the scales — the moment you enter them.

Points by finish, on your scale
Set what first place is worth and how much each position drops. Most clubs run 100 points for the win, dropping a point per place. Larger circuits often start at 200. Either works — you set the numbers, and every event scores the same way all season.
Anglers who fished but did not weigh a fish still earn participation points, so showing up counts for something in the season race.

The season race runs itself
Standings run all year. Score an event and every team's season total moves — no separate step, no second system to update. Anglers see the same standings you do, on their phone, without calling the tournament director to ask where they sit.

Qualifying for the playoff and championship
Most circuits use the season to decide who fishes for the title. Set qualification by standings — top N teams or a top percentage — or require a minimum number of events fished, so the championship goes to the teams who showed up all year.
Championship events are kept out of the points race, so winning the title does not distort the season standings that decided who got there.

Drop weeks, if your rules use them
Some circuits count only a team's best events — best 5 of 9, for example — so a blown motor or a family weekend does not end a season. Turn it on and the standings count each team's top results and ignore the rest. Leave it off and every event counts.

Common questions
- How are angler of the year points calculated?
- Points are assigned by finishing position at each event. You set what first place is worth and how much each position drops — for example 100 for first, 99 for second, and so on. Teams that fished but did not weigh a fish receive a participation value you also set. Season totals are the sum of those event points.
- Can we drop our worst events from the standings?
- Yes. Set how many events count — best 5 of 9, for example — and the standings use each team's top results and ignore the rest. If you leave it off, every scored event counts toward the season total.
- Do championship events count toward angler of the year?
- No. Championship events are scored but carry no season points, so the title event does not change the standings that determined who qualified for it.
- How do teams qualify for the championship?
- You can qualify teams by season standings — a top number of teams or a top percentage — or by requiring a minimum number of events fished during the season, or both. Qualification is calculated from the same standings anglers have been watching all year.
- Can anglers see the standings themselves?
- Yes. Each season has a public standings page anglers can open on their phone at any time. It reflects scoring as soon as an event is finalized, so the tournament director stops fielding questions about who is where.
- Can we use our own points scale?
- Yes. First-place value, the drop per position, and the no-weigh-in value are all configurable per season, so the numbers match the rules your club already publishes rather than forcing you onto a fixed scale.
